From Neurons to Networks and Back Again: How AI and neuroscience inspire each other

Description

This talk traces the surprising two-way relationship between neuroscience and artificial intelligence. Expect a journey across the visual cortex experiments that quietly shaped modern deep learning, to the ways AI is now giving neuroscience tools it never had, and back again to the question that ties it all together: what happens when you build AI that actually accounts for the human brain using it?

Bio

Hemashree Yogesha is a master's student in Cognitive Science at the University of Osnabrück, focusing on Computational Neuroscience and AI.

She holds a bachelors in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, and has previously interned at Samsung R&D and IISc, and worked as a guest researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences, where she worked on signal processing pipelines for non-invasive spinal-cortical coupling research. She is currently a researcher at the Skeide Lab, working on early childhood neural development network analysis.

Notes

Free lunch will be provided for attendees.
